Copper Care
Copper Care
A note from Vera’s Workshop
Your copper will last forever. Here’s how. Most jewelry remains unchanged over time. That’s because most of it is fake. Pure copper, by contrast, breathes and reacts and ages — and that’s precisely its beauty.
It darkens. It deepens. It becomes yours.
Over time, pure copper develops what artisans call ‘patina’: a rich, living layer that forms from contact with skin, sweat, and the passing years. Some people love it. It tells the story of everywhere the piece has been.
Others prefer the original look of brightly polished copper. And that’s fine, too.
There’s no wrong way to wear it: there’s only your way.
Either way, here’s everything you need to keep your piece looking exactly how you love it.
“I never polished my jewelry back to its original shine. I liked seeing it age. Patina means the copper has had an experience. It means it’s authentic.”

How to Clean Your Copper
Three methods. All natural. Only using ingredients from your kitchen.
METHOD 01 — Lemon & Salt
The quickest way for an express polish. The citric acid dissolves tarnish almost instantly.
-
Cut a lemon in half.
-
Dip it in salt.
-
Rub it directly onto the copper for 30-60 seconds.
-
Rinse with warm water.
-
Dry immediately.
METHOD 02 — White Vinegar & Salt
Great for the most stubborn tarnish. The acidity does all the work: no scrubbing required.
-
Mix white vinegar with one teaspoon of salt.
-
Let it soak for 15-30 minutes.
-
Rinse thoroughly.
-
Dry immediately.
METHOD 03 — Baking Soda & Lemon
The gentlest option. Great for pieces with details or engraving.
-
Mix until it forms a paste.
-
Apply with a soft cloth or an old toothbrush.
-
Gently rub into crevices.
-
Rinse well.
-
Dry immediately.
THE SECRET
Just wear it.
The natural oils in your skin gently polish the metal everyday. A piece of jewelry sitting in a drawer will tarnish quicker than a piece worn every single day. Copper rewards those who never take it off.
WHAT TO AVOID
What to keep away from your copper:
-
Chlorine & Swimming Pools
-
Salt water
-
Harsh Soaps
-
Perfumes
-
Chemical Cleaners
-
Ultrasonic Cleaners
-
Bleach
-
Toothpaste
When in doubt, take it off before you shower or apply any product to your skin. Put it back on when you’re done.
ABOUT THE GREEN MARK
If you notice a faint green mark on your skin, that’s copper oxide: a completely harmless reaction between pure copper, sweat, and your skin’s natural chemistry.
It means your copper is authentic.
Plated jewelry stops leaving marks as soon as its coating wears off, because there’s no copper underneath. A green mark means the copper is still there, still in contact with your skin, and still doing what it was always meant to do.
It washes off easily with soap and water. Most people find they stop noticing it at all within a few weeks.
STORAGE
How to Store Your Copper
When you do take it off, how you store it matters. Humidity is the number one enemy of shiny copper.
-
Keep it in the dry cloth pouch it came in.
-
An airtight bag (like a ziploc) dramatically slows down tarnishing.
-
Store it away from bathrooms and dampness.
-
Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods.
-
Keep it away from other metals to prevent scratching.
Handmade.
99.9% Pure. No Filler.
Each piece was hand-poured in Patricia’s workshop. Real copper, crafted as it was always meant to be. For the very last time.
